J. B. Flatt has been in touch about the great gig above:
Hey Friends,
A heads up for those in the NYC area next week:
The Sweet Divines, NYC's finest female soul vocal quartet, are making their Joe's Pub debut on Thursday, December 18th. After a full set from the Divines, the legendary Howard Tate is going to do us the great honor of performing a short set with the band.
Distinguished SS list member Eli "Paperboy" Reed will make an onstage cameo and will also DJ before the show, along with the excellent DJ Honeydripper (Nydia of Daptone).
This show is probably the holiday season's best kept secret, but we'd like to change that. Some recent Howard Tate appearances in NYC have been tragically under-attended. Let's reverse that trend!
Please spread the word, and do so with confidence. Howard is in great voice and will be singing his best Verve and Atlantic material. The Divines & Co. are a top notch backing band (if we may say so), having backed Maxine Brown, Baby Washington, Eula Cooper, Tami Lynn, and Harvey Scales to some very appreciative audiences this year. Eli Reed will bring the magic fresh from his triumphant UK tour. And if you haven't seen the Sweet Divines do their show...whatcha waiting for?
Advance tickets are $15 and make great virtual stocking stuffers. You can get them here:
