THE GREASY BEATS are an all-star funky music machine that hails from Los Angeles and features some of the most respected and in-demand musicians in Southern California. Every individual in this funky gang of musicians has made their mark on the music scene. Members have performed or recorded with such notable bands/artists as: Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Sergio Mendez, Big Daddy Kane, Too $hort, De La Soul, Pharoahe Monch, Cake, Sublime, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Joss Stone, Money Mark, Cut Chemist, Rakim, Ghostface Killah, Redman, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Ricky Martin, Jason Mraz, Ricky Lee Jones, Mike Doughty, Little Brother, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, The Breakestra, Quantic Soul Orchestra, DJ Z-TRIP, Jem, Marc Broussard, L.A. Carnival, Connie Price & The Keystones, Orgone, Melvin Sparks, Sam Rivers and Eddie Bo just to name a few.
The Greasy Beats have forged a rough and raw approach to the FUNK that is reminiscent of The JB's, Dyke & The Blazers, The Meters and the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown. The GB's have firmly established their reputation as THE hardest working funk band in SoCal with extended residences at both the world famous Roxy Theatre in Hollywood and the Temple Bar in Santa Monica.

"They got the name of the group right on this one -- because the music here is greasy and gritty -- partly deep funk, and partly older soul-styled grooves! The group are a largeish combo with vamping guitar, burning organ, snapping drums, and a nice brace of horns on the top -- and they're joined here by Mixmaster Wolf of Breakestra -- who sings lead vocals on 3 of the EP's 5 tracks! The overall groove is rich and full -- almost with Memphis soul touches at times, but cut down with the leanness of the modern deep funk generation." - Dusty Groove
"FOR THE GREASY BEATS WHEN IT COMES TO GETTIN' DOWN, JAMES BROWN IS THE GROUND!"
