I was pleased to see footage of Roscoe Robinson on Youtube because it brought back memories of his stirring performance at the Utrecht Blues Estafette back in the late 90's and 2002. The Utrecht festival is a sad loss off the blues and soul calendar following it demise 2 years ago for various reasons. It was an opportunity to meet old friends from across Europe and enjoy great blues and soul music.
One of those old friends Ray Ellis kindly supplied the photos for this post. You can read Ray's articles and see more of his photos in the ever excellent Juke Blues magazine renown for it's artwork and in-depth article on soul and blues.

Roscoe Robinson is still gigging in the States sometimes alongside Ralph "Soul" Jackson and you can see footage of Ralph from the same gig on Youtube as well.

Alex Subinas, a Spanish collector and DJ, has a fascinating blog made up of photos and scans and has recently featured interviews with both Roscoe and Ralph - they are very informative and well worth reading.
I was fortunate enough to see Roscoe Robinson perform on Saturday Night at the Bottletree in Birmingham, AL on Saturday night.
