The Wang Dang Doodle is a groovy record hop hosted by DJ Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus. Event can have any kind of music he so desires: soul, funk, R&B, rockabilly, jazz, rock and roll, ska, doo wop, exotica, surf, mambo, cumbia and assorted weirdness. Almost always the music will date before 1972.Past Wang Dang Doodles have featured such fabulous guest DJs as Dave the Spazz (Music to Spazz By), Rex Doane (Fool's Paradise), Lenny Kaye (Nuggets, Patti Smith Group), Billy Miller (Norton), Gaylord Fields (The Gaylord Fields Show), Mr. Fine Wine (Downtown Soulville, Bumpshop), Philthy Phil (SPQR, Templars), $mall ¢hange (Blackcrack, Rubulad) and Juke Joint Jonny (Goofballs).
THE WANG DANG DOODLE has TWO locations in Brooklyn!
THE WANG is held on the second Friday of the month at The Ottoman Lounge (318 Grand Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC). Starting in September, THE WANG will also be held on the first Thursday of the month at The Royale (506 Fifth Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn, NYC)
The next WANG, to be held on Thursday September 6 at The Royale, The Wang Dang Doodle will present its first annual "End of Summer Twist Party!" with special guest DJ Gaylord Fields of Free Form Radio Station WFMU
