Carleen & The Groovers Hot Pants CJB
I have recently been exploring themes in soul music and one area I have been focusing on is Hot Pants!
I believe the first 45 to mention Hot Pants in the lyrics otr title was "Hot Pants (She Got To Use What She Got To Get What She Wants)" by James Brown recorded in 1971 for People. According to Wikipedia, the song's lyrics are "an ode to the captivating power Hot Pants, which members of the band first saw on their 1970 European tour." Wikipedia describes Hot Pants as follows:
Commonly known as "short shorts," primarily worn by women. These are short, tight shorts, usually made of cotton, nylon, or some other common material. They are meant to emphasize the buttocks and the legs. Hot pants are sometimes worn with dark tights and knee-length boots to create an edgy, sexy look. Hot pants were very popular in the early 1970s, but declined in popularity during the late 1970s. The fashion revived in the 1990s.
Thought I'd share my fave Hot Pants record by Carleen & The Groovers
