Rumba Caliente

I was recently tipped to Rumba Caliente:

Rumba Caliente are one of the UK's most exciting salsa groups. Led by Salsa Celtica's Toby Shippey and Lino Rocha they have a unique and original salsa- soul sound. Rumba Caliente move from salsa to soul, to Latin jazz then funk and back to salsa giving them an irresistibly powerful and uniquely funky dance floor filling sound. The group have built a fantastic reputation for thrilling live shows, playing the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Cork Jazz festivals and have appeared live in session on Radio Scotland, and radio three's " World Root's" show.

The band consists of Lino Rocha lead vocals ( Venesuela) Toby Shippey trumpet, coro (UK) Sue McKenzie sax (UK) Ryan Quigley lead trumpet (UK) Chris Grieve trombone (Australia) Eric Alfonso timbale, coro (Cuba) Ricardo Pompa percussion, vocals, coro (Cuba) Ross Hamilton bass, coro (UK) Phil Alexander piano (UK) Doug Hudson congas (UK).

Drop over to their MySpace and listen to their sounds.
