Definition of Soul is a two day event, East Coast Experience showcasing favorites from the east coast and West Coast Experience highlighting soul music’s most sought after talent on the left coast. Definition of Soul concert goers will experience the top independent soul artists up close and personal; in an intimate setting that has to be seen to be believed, Detroit’s City Theatre. Day one of this series, Definition of Soul: East Coast Experience, features Eric Roberson with his very special guest Carol Riddick as she makes her debut performance in Detroit.

Eric’s music can be best described as musical theatre. Listening to an Eric Roberson song will allow one one to realize what life without regret would feel like. Eric’s lyrics pull every piece of emotion from every syllable. Every bar has you holding your breath in preparation for the moment when he sings the words that you have always needed to say but couldn’t. Roberson’s stage shows hearken back to Marvin Gaye’s ability to interact with the audience in a way where the artist follows the audience’s lead. Carol Riddick is a sultry singer/songwriter who has graced stages from her hometown of Philadelphia to across the globe, winning fans and admirers with her extraordinary voice. Carol Riddick first came to public notice as a backing singer with DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. She used that springboard to become a much sought-after vocalist, working over the past decade with such artists as Anthony Hamilton, Kindred, Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild. Even while working with the industry’s finest, Carol always dreamed of sharing her own music. Now, with the release of her debut album, Moments Like This, Carol has evolved into a true rising star.
