Bobby McNutt I'm Gettin' Ready Roulette

Bobby McNutt I'm Gettin' Ready Roulette
Sometimes when you are collecting 45s, you just have to be patient and hope the 45 comes along eventually. Last week, one of my big wants cropped up at long last week to prove the above theory. There has been recent discussion on Soul Source that laying your hands on certain supposedly "cheap" but good 45s is harder than buying high priced rarities and this again is proved by this 45 which doesn't seem to crop up too often.
I know little about Bobby McNutt other than what was told to me by Charles Wilson who knew him from the Chicago scene. Charles actually released a couple of sides on him in the late 90's before he disappeared. The above 45 from August 69 only proves what a good singer he was and as ever I wish he he had laid down more sides.
The 45 is one of the very few 45s issued on Roulette but what an excellent song partly written by another stalwart of Chicago soul - the late Johnny Sayles with the legendary producer Monk Higgins before he de-camped to the West Coast.

I have always felt that the voice of Bobby McNutt was the epitome of the authentic soul singer. He passed November 7, 2009.

This is amazing, such a shame he didn't become a big star, he surely had the voice for it. Wow!

Thank you for putting this song online. His wife and daughters were thrilled when I showed them your site, and when they heard the young Bobby singing. It really brought a smile on their faces during those first sad days after his passing.
