Love it. Have been researching Friday Brown for an exhibition about sounds in Salford. Lovely to hear something straight away so thank you! Can I get back in touch with some questions about other FB tracks?
Friday was the daughter of my junior school headmaster. I can remember him bringing in a record she had released, and all the kids spent the dinner hour playing the A & B sides in turn nonstop. All I remember was it was an orange label, and both tracks were excellant. It would have been 1961/62. If anyone has any ideas what the record tracks would have been....and where I may find copies...in any format....I would die a happy man lol. Been searching for years.
Have a look at the Manchester Beat website for Friday, Olaf has done a decent job of giving a potted history. http://www.manchesterbeat.com/groups/fridaybrown/fridaybrown.php
Some of the tracks and videos are on Youtube too.
It's a shame but Ms Brown hasn't got many of the original vinyl recordings herself. I don't think it crossed her mind at the time to keep any for a demand 50 years later. She can still belt out a tune now!
I set this blog up back in 2005 to share my love of soul, funk and jazz music.
Thanks to all the people who have dropped by over the years and left comments or got in touch with me.
I am no longer posting on this blog due to other projects.
However if you browse the archives then you will be treated to posts featuring audio, Youtube clips, slide shows, interviews, tips on new releases, news features plus links to other blogs, websites, articles, books, magazines and videos.
