Marvin Yates


I was tipped to Marvin Yates by listening to Soul Discovery.

MARVIN YATES was born into a family enriched with talented musician and singers of eight brothers and sisters including his father and mother, begin singing at age 9 in his church choir; he has a (4) octave vocal range. He is a former member of "The Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Seminar Choir" (Los Angeles Chapter) while it was under the directions of Daryl Coley.

December 2007
From Family Church International Marvin received an Eagle Award for Singer of The Year. He was presented the award from Bishop Donnie Williams.

November 2007
Marvin's hosted his release party at BB Kings Blues Club to a packed venue. He also featured artists such as rap artist Eastwood, singer Marjane' and dance troup Expression Dance Ministries.

September 2007
Marvin Appeared on a television show called West Coast Praze hosted by Donna McAfee which airs in not only the United States but also in Canada, Europe and Africa with 33 million viewers.

Also appeared at:
Cozys Blues Club in Hollywood, Madison Square Garden, West Angeles Theater of Performing Artist along with various Churches, cathedrals, conferences and youth outreach.

Twice nominated for Male Artist of The Year. Marvin was honored to receive this nomination because it included him with seasoned artists such as Daryl Coley, Calvin Bernard Rhome, Norman Hutchins & Jessie Campbell.

He appeared on a television show produced by Dion Richardson of Richardson Unlimited on the A T & T Television Network called Nu Phaze. This show included artist appearing on pas shows such as Kirk Franklin, Yalonda Adams, Trnitee 5:7, Yolonda Adams and Fred Hammonds.

Marvin has shared the stage with Beau Williams, Anrea Crouch, Andre Russel of Spread The Word, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., Billy Preston and Tone'x Marvin's musical influences as song writers or singers consist of Edwin Hawkins & Walter Hawkins, R. Kelly, Luther Van dross, Kirk Franklin, Take 6, Brian McKnight, Baby Face, Shirley Caesar, Oleta Adams, Donald Lawrence, Patti Labelle, Fred Hammonds, Mint Condition, and Norman Hutchins, Daryl Coley just to name a few.

With his music Marvin does not want to be placed in a box and most definitely also move outside the 4 walls of the church. Along with guidance from the Almighty, Marvin plans to go where ever his creativity take him; writing plays, producing films, music videos, promote concerts and composing music for other artists.
